Enviromental

McClelland Laboratories provides detailed environmental characterization evaluations for potential of mine solids to mobilize constituents on contact with meteoric water and potential to produce or neutralize acid in natural weathering and oxidizing conditions to assist you in identifying potential environmental impacts which may require prevention during processing or mitigation on closure.

Constituent Mobility Potential Tests

NDEP - Meteoric Water Mobility Procedure
US EPA Method 1312 (SPLP)

Potential for Acid Rock Drainage Tests

Static - Modified Acid/Base Accounting (Mod ABA)
Kinetic - Humidity Cell Test Procedure (20 weeks plus)

Soils Attenuation Tests for Land Application of Wastewater

Sequential Batch Test - synthetic solution, if process water is not available
Column Percolation Test - if process water is available

Heap Neutralization Rinse Down Tests

On Column Leach Test Residues - if during project development phase
On Actual Commercial Heap Residues, at Heap Height - if mine closure data is required
Recirculation Rinse (carbon adsorption - barren recycle) and Chemical Oxidation of Rinse Effluents (H2O2, SO2/Air, O3, and OCl-) procedures available

Pit Water Quality Studies

Potential for Constituent Mobility and Acid Rock Drainage on Final Pit Wall Core Samples
Determination of Ultimate Pit Water Quality - computer modeling is normally required

Infiltration Pond Soils (Solids) Attenuation/Mobilization Tests

Determine Suitability of Potential Infiltration Pond Site for Pit Dewatering During Mining
Determine Attenuation of Constituents in Pit Water by Infiltration Pond Site Soils
Determine Potential for Constituent Mobility from Infiltration Pond Soils after Contact with Pit Water
Determine Water Quality of Effluent from Infiltration Pond Soils

Tailings Impoundment Characterization Studies

Normally Tailored Protocol to Simulate Site Specific Conditions

Bio-Mass Substrate Evaluations for Passive Wastewater Treatment

Normally Tailored Protocol to Simulate Site Specific Needs

Testing

McClelland Laboratories offers the following general metallurgical testing capabilities to assist you during exploration and project development phases of your mining project. Additional testing evaluations, specifically tailored to meet your site specific needs and objectives, can be designed and conducted after detailed discussions with you.

Preliminary Cyanidation Tests (Agitated Tests)

Heap leach process option on drill cuttings and/or crushed core or bulk ore samples
Milling process option - grind size and leach condition optimization tests on ball mill ground drill cuttings, core, and bulk ore samples

Heap Leach Cyanidation Tests (Percolation Tests)

Heap leach crush size optimization column leach tests on crushed core and/or bulk ore samples
Head and tail screen analyses
Water balance considerations (saturation and retained moisture and drain down rate and volume)

Carbon Adsorption Capacity and Adsorption Rate Tests

CIC for heap leach process option
CIP, CIL for milling process option

Other General Testing Services

Gravity Concentration - precious metal and sulfide ores
Flotation Beneficiation - precious metal, copper, and base metal ores
Oxide Copper Leaching - milling and heap leach process options

SPARKS, NEVADA USA

GENE E. McCLELLAND - President, MLI
B.S. Chemistry, M.S. Metallurgical Engineering. Experience(30 years) in precious and base metals and environmental research, testing, and consulting with the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Bateman Metallurgical Laboratories, and McClelland Laboratories, Inc. (1987 to present). Over 100 publications, presentations and patents (3) related to precious metals processing and environmental considerations. Over 3000 research/testing projects related to precious and base metals processing and environmental impact prevention and/or mitigation. Taught a heap leach short course for 10 years and an environmental short course for 3 years.

JACK S. McPARTLAND - Vice President of Operations, MLI
B.S. Chemical Engineering, M.S. Metallurgical Engineering, University of Nevada (Reno), Certified Environmental Manager, State of Nevada. 10 years experience in precious and base metals and environmental research and testing. International consulting experience on precious metals processing projects. Experience in bio-oxidation processing of precious metals and copper bearing sulfide ores for milling and heap leaching processes. Treatment of refractory precious metal ores. Five publications-presentations related to metallurgical processing and environmental concerns.

HAROLD J. HEINEN - Consulting Metallurgist, MLI
B.S. in Chemistry (Hope College, 1937), M.S. in Chemistry (University of Nevada, 1939). 55 years of experience in metallurgy research, development and testing, most of which at the U.S. Bureau of Mines (Reno).
